How can we describe
Sedona? Beautiful, magical, soothing, exciting, absolutely ma gnificent!
It is like
living in the bottom of the
Grand Canyon, but
much more stunning. There are red rock formations everywhere,
each more
breathtaking than the next. There are Oak, mesquite and pine
trees, the elevation is high enough to be cool in the evenings
but low enough to heat up the
day
for wonderful water excursions in Oak Creek during the summer
months.
The energy on Kauai
does not hold a candle to what we experience here. Everyone
talks about ‘Vortexes’ but most people do not even know what
that means. There are a few well known energy vortexes here, but
there are many that people don’t know about (like around our
home) and if the truth be known, the whole community of Sedona
is a ‘vortex.’ When you are connected, you will feel it from the
moment you get within a few miles. Like the hair on the back of
your neck rising and shivers all over your body.
So what is a
vortex anyway? In this case, the word is used to describe a
feeling of well-being experienced when you visit here. But it is
so much more. Positive energy is first created by the undeniable
beauty of the place, and the ancient and awe inspiring energy
amplifies those feelings. This is not to say that everyone who
comes here will feel that well-being constantly. Quite the
contrary. ANY emotions felt in this special place will be
amplified. The secret in using this space to your advantage is
to mindfully direct those emotions to good feeling thoughts and
then just let the thing snowball into a bubbling cauldron of
‘feel good’.
 We
have been visiting the most well known energy vortexes to
experience them as we get to know our community. The first time
I set foot on the Airport Mesa, my joy was so amplified that I
started giggling and couldn’t stop. Cathedral Rock is well
named. The energy there feels holy, so clean and lovely. We
found a particular cove in the cliffs where we did our
meditation that seemed to lift us physically from our seated
cross-legged positions to float in ecstasy. Ahhhh. We call it
Meditation Cove. Here is Cardell meditating as we speak.
Best of all,
Boynton Canyon spoke to our souls. The 3 mile hike was peaceful,
uplifting and sacred. Cardell experienced a journey back in time
through other lifetimes as a native American living in the
cliffs and hunting on horseback. I found the smells of the pines
and water seeping from the red cliffs hauntingly familiar and
comforting. We will certainly hold many of our classes in that
glorious place.
So again, how do I
describe Sedona? I can only say that whether you attend a
retreat with us or not, you simply must come to Sedona. Everyone
on Earth should experience this awe inspiring place. We think it
is the heart center of the Earth. It is beautiful year round, so
find a time that works for you and make it a point to get here
somehow. There are many nice hotels, vacation rentals and B&Bs
where you can stay.
If,
however, you decide to make it to one of our retreats for your
Sedona experience, we will make mighty fine guides not only to
the area but to how to use it for your personal growth on this
journey of life.
Here in Sedona, we
spend a lot of time out hiking and holding the classes in the
trees at the base of the red rocks along the banks of Oak Creek.
Our outside excursions will vary based upon the time of year and
the weather. In the summer it is warmer and morning is best for
being outside. In spring and fall, we can go out all day long.
The Grand Canyon is only a couple of hours away and a day trip
up there may be in order if the group is all in agreement. In
winter months, snow gear is recommended, our fireplace will
always be blazing, we’ll be drinking spiced wine, eating chili
and we might even have some ski excursions up to Flagstaff.
We want you to know
that we have never felt anything so magnificent as the energy in
this area and urge you to see it, one way or the other. If you
choose to allow us to be a part of that, we’d love it, and our
expertise in directing thoughts, emotions and energy would be a
great help to you. Plus, we’d love to welcome you into our
beautiful home.
